Autodesk’s 123D Catch app offers a quick way to take photos of an object with your mobile device’s camera and then stitch them into a 3D model, but there are still snags that the inexperienced user can hit. Autodesk released an updated version today that is greatly improved. It tracks what parts of an object you’ve already photographed (see bottom left in photo below) and alerts you when an image is too dark or shaky. Comments and social sharing are also now a core part of the app.
