Holiday Shop Decorates Sailor’s Home For Christmas

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (CBS) — A Plainfield family thought there would be no Christmas decorations on the house this year with dad serving overseas, but a suburban Christmas store heard about his deployment and stepped in.

A crew from Christmas Decor, in New Lenox, showed up this morning at Tara Janachowski’s home, and put up ladders and got to work.

“I was surprised. There’s a lot of families that could use this. It’s a very nice thing. I’m grateful. It’s just a very selfless thing. It’s nice,” she said.

Rob Dupre, with Christmas Decor, said they call it the “Decorated Family program.”

“We find a service member who’s going to be overseas for the holidays. Hopefully it brings more joy to her than it does to us, but we’re glad to be a part of it,”…
